Girolamo Russo ‘a Rina’ 2017
The Girolamo Russo estate was founded in 2005 by Giuseppe Russo. His family are native to Passopisciaro, one of the key villages in the heart Etna’s DOC.Giuseppe works the vineyards organically and makes the wines himself. He vinifies each parcel separately, seeking out their individual identities in a series of wines that reflect the diverse character of their terroir. Giuseppes ‘a Rina cuvee is a blend across the different Contradas (single sites) he works with on Etna, creating an interesting insight into arguably the most important native grape varieties to the DOC – Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Expect a fresh and complex wine, with supple, velvety tannins, good structure – Notes of cherries and plums, leather and tobacco.
