Two Minutes with Matthew Herbert

/ By King & Godfree Monday April 11, 2016 See More — /

Herbert & Mason have been engaged as lead architect on the King & Godfree redevelopment. They’ve been given the task of bringing the precinct to life, drawing inspiration from the old format Roman bars/eating rooms and providores. The building’s original features and the heritage of Carlton also played a large role in shaping the aesthetic of the new King & Godfree. Their aim is to create an open, welcoming place that invites patrons to relax, socialise and come together with friends and the King & Godfree family.

We had a chat to one half of Herbert & Mason, Matthew Herbert, about their design approach, his childhood memories of Lygon Street, and the importance of respecting the past as we shape this next chapter of the King & Godfree story.
